Course Description/Overview/Welcome Statement
Welcome to A+ Certification Computer Hardware Repair and Maintenance. This is a year long course with much of the content accessible online. You will be experiencing primarily in a virtual environment working with PCs computers in the Windows, Mac, and Linux Operating Systems. There are physical computers in the classroom to work on also but to have the variety of all the possible systems takes a virtual learning environment.
Students are expected to utilize their time in class. Looking up grades and checking e-mails, while taking only a few minutes, does make a difference; the students that start work immediate at the beginning of class made significantly more progress over the students that start with a grade check. This is a career potential class and it will take real focus to complete.

PC Hardware 40%
Operational Procedures 11%
Operating Systems 33%
Mobile Devices 9%
Each student will be given a username access to a secure website that can be access from any web enabled computer. Web enabled devices can access partial material to help facilitate studying during down times.
Basic learning rule for my classroom is, please do not stop anyone else from learning.
In addition to this rule, all Provo School District Policies and Procedures and Independence High School policies and rules will be used.
Calendar of Due Dates for Major Assignments
Each unit has quizzes built into the learning scenarios that can be repeated without any negative grading consequences and is concluded with a non-repeatable final test.
During the 1st Trimester: PC Hardware, Networking, and Laptops
During the 2nd Trimester: Printers, Operational Procedures, Security, Operating Systems, and Mobile Devices
During the 3rd Trimester: Troubleshooting and Test review and preparation
Progress Reports and Report Cards
The class will follow the IHS school schedule of trimesters.
Connecting Home to School
Grades and progress will be updated weekly. Students can access school work from home with internet enabled computers and should a student ever be absent there is no need to ask permission to continue working on material in this class; please go ahead.
