Course Description/Overview/Welcome Statement
Welcome to a new year with many great learning opportunities! In this class we will support you in completing class assignments for your regular grade level literacy class, in reading for comprehension & fluency and by making real life connections to the things you learn.
Specific IEP needs and accommodations will be addressed in a private and respectful manner in our class.
A 94-100% B 83-86% C 73-76% F 59 and below
A- 90-93% B- 80-82% C- 70-72%
B+ 87-89% C+ 77-79% D 60-69%
Assessment of Progress
A pen or pencil will be needed every day.
- Be respectful of yourself, the teacher, your classmates and the classroom/school.
- Come prepared and participate
- Use class time wisely
Participation grades will be given based on these three expectations and will be assessed by the student themselves.
IHS consequences will be followed as needed.

Cell phones are not to be used during class time.
Calendar of Due Dates for Major Assignments
As this is a support class for the student’s regular literacy class there will be no major assignments given for this class. The grades for this class will be based on participation and a few in class assignments, such as annotating articles.
Progress Reports and Report Cards
Students will be responsible for checking grades regularly and making sure that they are completing assignments on time.
Connecting Home to School
A disclosure document will be sent home for this class and will need a parent signature. The bottom portion of the document is to be returned to the teacher.
