Independence High School

In Brandon’s Environmental science class his students are doing a city planning project. This project is very relevant, as Utah is one of the fastest growing states in the country! There are a lot of things to consider in planning for the future, especially with the environment. The Wasatch front has some of the worst air quality in the country as well, so effective planning is vital! Students must follow laws and follow the specific guidelines for their city while they design it on graph paper. They must abide by the plan without going over the acre amounts all while fitting it in the necessary infrastructure. Finally, they will then transfer their plans into a city plan iPad app to watch their city come alive! The app will then create statistics to tell the students how effective their city was. Brandon’s classes were just starting their rough drafts today, but next week they will start their final drafts. And we can’t wait to see what they come up with!
