Course Description/Overview/Welcome Statement
The purpose of this class is to offer students instruction in lifetime activities through individual and team sports. Students will learn rules and techniques needed to succeed in selected sports. They will also demonstrate good sportsmanship and attitudes.
Students are expected to master certain skills. Skills include: throwing and catching, game strategy and teamwork.
Assessment of Progress
Students can dress out for class but are not required to do so. I give about five minutes at the beginning and end of class to change, if they choose to dress out for class.
Students are expected to be respectful to both their teacher and the other students in class. Good sportsmanship is also expected.
This is a participation based class. If a student is unable to participate or refuses to do so, they will be sent to the office for the hour.
I will also take action in order to maintain a safe and effective learning environment. When a student is not following class expectations, steps that I may take include: a verbal warning, having the student sit out of activity, a conference with me in the hallway or having them sit in another classroom in order to collect themselves. If a problem persists with a student, I may also involve parents and/or a member of our school’s administration.
