Independence High School

Last night we had an amazing parent teacher conference. We started the night with our traditional parent teacher meetings held in individual classrooms. It was a great opportunity to chat with parents and get to know students and their families!

At 5:00 pm we had a presentation given by our Vice Principal Jacob Griffin. He and two of our students talked about attendance. Jacob presented data from our students that showed how many classes they passed and how many absences they had. It showed that the kids who came to school the most passed the most classes and vice versa. After Jacob’s presentation we had two students share with us why they thought school attendance was important.

After the presentation, our teacher’s gave out awards to students in their advisory classes. The awards were given to students who exemplify our school values. Those values include perseverance, respect, integrity, decision- making skills, and excellence.

After the awards were over we had dinner for all that came! Parents, teachers, students and families all joined us in the cafeteria and ate together! We followed dinner with another round of meetings in individual classrooms with parents and students. It was a great night for all that came!
